Dear Desperate
Girl
In her book
“Healthy And Lean for Life”, Anne Myers
the owner of “The Body and Mind School”, who have lost 90 kilograms more than
10 years ago (And kept the weight off), states that obesity is a lifestyle
disease which should be treated holistically. For her the cure and prevention
of lifestyle diseases lie in the four cornerstones of proper health-management:
Living positively
We choose
whether we look at our experiences in a positive or negative way. Positive
thinking has a healing effect on our emotional and physical wellbeing while
negativity is
poisonous and debilitating.
Lifestyle
A balanced
lifestyle includes a satisfying social life as well as time for enjoyable
activities, periods of rest, sufficient sleep and the use of effective stress
releasing techniques.
Diet
A sensible
diet includes nutrient rich, high fibre food from all the food groups in the
food pyramid.
Complementary Health Practices
Herbal
remedies, food supplements, homeopathic solutions, meditation, physical
exercise, yoga, massage, aromatherapy and many more can be useful to improve general
well-being.
In his book
“First Things First’ Stephen Covey ask: “We are always trying to fit more
activities into the time we have. But what does it matter if what we are doing
isn’t what matters most?”..... How much does your health matter to you?
Is what you
are doing right now in line with what matters most to you? What small steps can
you take right now to make what you want more possible?
Take care
Weight-Life
Wisdom
Dear Lee
Focusing on your weight might not be what your body needs
from you right now. Undergoing a big operation and receiving treatment with
unpleasant side effects is traumatic and perhaps what your body may need from
you right now, is some “TLC” (Tender Loving Care) to help you on the path of recovery.
Rather then following a program right now, it may be useful
for you to see how you could change the way you are taking care of yourself
both on a physical and emotional level. Bear in mind that beside our physical
bodies with its many limitations we have a mental, emotional and spiritual
capacity to explore and develop. Make sure that your diet includes all the nutrients from the food pyramid and perhaps you could explore complementary health practices like herbal remedies, food
supplements, homeopathic solutions, meditation, physical exercise, yoga, massage and
aromatherapy to support your healing
Be patient with the healing process. Do what you can do one
step at a time. Our bodies can and do heal from illness when we treat it
kindly.
Take care,
WLW
